Welcome To My Blogsite! My name is Raquel Sanchez. First and foremost, I am a wife to a wonderful husband and Mom to 3 great kids. I have a Business Management Degree from University of Texas at Arlington and work in the corporate world. In an effort to keep my creativity flowing, I began photography as a hobby, which has quickly become an obsession. I love the world of photography- there is so much to learn. The possibilities are endless! I understand how we can get caught up in our daily lives and in a blink of an eye, time has passed, our kids have grown and we have changed. My goal is to capture those moments that so quickly pass us by through lifestyle photography. Please browse my website to see examples of work I have done in family, senior and newborn photo sessions- as well as some candid shots. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or if you would like to schedule a session. |
Where it all began

This family hold a very special place in my heart. I am not sure if they realize this, but they were my very first paid session, and because of them, I have gotten referral after referral, allowing me to gain experience, and the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. This was the 3rd year of taking pictures for them, and this time I got to meet the wonderful family I have heard so much about! So much fun I must say! Thank you for trusting me year after year to take pictures.

The Lopez family

I really enjoyed this shoot at Veterans Park in Arlington. It’s so fun to see the difference of the photos you take at the beginning of a shoot to the ones at the end. I love being silly and being able to warm up the kiddos to where I am getting a “true smile” and really capturing a moment. These girls we too much fun. I hope you have enjoyed the pictures Lopez family. I hope to see you again soon!

I can’t believe it’s been a year…

My clients in this session hold a particularly special place in my heart. Miss Madeline was my first newborn session, I have had the privilege of watching her grow this past year and I have enjoyed every minute of it. It has been so fun to see her every few months and see all the new things she has learned. I love this cutie patooie to bits! Thanks Cindy and Justin for sharing your sweet pea with me. I hope you have enjoyed the pictures as much as I have enjoyed taking them!
My sessions with Maddie really marked a starting point for me and in my endeavors with Raquel Sanchez Photography. When I was contacted to take pictures for her 1st birthday, I couldn’t believe a year had passed. I have met some wonderful people, and learned so much from managing my business to techniques with photography. I look forward to what this year holds for me and Raquel Sanchez Photography

There is always time for pictures…

There are a lot of things that are very stereotypical about Texas. Not everyone likes country music, not every one wears cowboy boots or cowboy hats. There is one thing that is true about Texas, and that is football. According to most Texans I have met, it’s God first, then comes Football and after that comes Family. I agreed to meet this family at thier home and were then to head out to the park for the session. I knock on the door and Mrs. Wager looks at me with a worried look and asks “Can we get this done in 15 minutes?” Turns out that her husband is head coach for a local high school football team that was playing in a very important, regional championship game at the Texas Stadium in a few days and he had to get up to school to prepare. So we went, quickly took pictures with Dad and off he goes! I was able to spend some time with Mom and her precious kiddos after Dad left. Moral of the story- many keep putting off family pictures, saying there isn’t time or they are too busy. If Coach Wager was able to find time the week of his football championship game, anyone can find time.
I went home and was telling my husband about the session and my step son, was listening as well. My step-son asked “You met the head football coach??” I will forever be greatful for to this family because for about 5 minutes- my step-son thought his step-mom was cool!

Once again.. I had to restrain myself from becoming the crazy camera lady and had to keep myself from eating these precious twins up! Mama Katrina sure does have her hands full, but she is definitely blessed -times 2!! Little Joi and Brayden were definiely a JOY ( I know.. I’m punny! ) to work with! Thank you Katrina for sharing your little blessings with me! I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I did!

The Rives Family
Posted on January 16, 2011
Well…. It’s been a while since I have written about something I have learned, so I suppose I will start there today. When I first started Raquel Sanchez photography, most of clients mentioned that they were looking for something outside of the typical in-studio portrait, and for the most part, I have been able to convince people who come out dressed in their “Sunday best” to lay or sit on the ground or make silly faces etc. Then my chain of referrals grew and soon I was booking more and more people that I didn’t know “personally” . After the sessions were over, I realized I had been more conservative in my requests to my clients and left with a sense of regret that I possibly hadn’t done my best work. During this session, wonderful Mrs. Rives suggested that her girls lay on the ground and I shoot from above. Inside I was jumping up and down! This is the kind of stuff I LOVE!!! After this shoot I left with sense of accomplishment and excitement. It was almost an awakening for me. The reason I had received so many referrals isn’t just because I have a fancy camera and take pictures with it. It’s because I give my clients an opportunity to capture real moments… I still have a lot to learn about being more outgoing and bringing out my ideas, but this was definitely a point of realization for me.
Now on to my wonderful clients! How beautiful are they?? It was so sweet to watch Dad – who is a football coach, interact with his beautiful blond babies. This family was a referral – Mrs. Ryan Rives is the Mary Kay director of a previous client of mine – Cindy McCurry. As a former consultant, I felt a special connection with Ryan. True Mary Kay ladies are not just beautiful outside, but inside as well. There was so much I loved about this session. The people, the location, the kiddos, the silly poses and the beautiful poses. Thank you Rives family for allowing me to shoot your family and grow as a business owner and photographer.

The Norton’s

Those who know me know that I am not originally a Texan. I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and moved to Texas in 1998. In my years here I have been so lucky to find several families who have adopted me. Some family, you are stuck with, but sometimes the best family is the family you can choose and that choose you! The Nortons are cousins by adoption! Sommer is the niece of my “Mama” here in Texas. So here you go.. part of my extended family! It was really great to get to see the boys as they are getting so big! Sommer- you have a beautiful family! Thanks for allowing to me to capture these moments !

Who said boys aren’t fun???

Most who know me know I love frills, bows, tutus… the more bling the better. There is something to be said about a sweet boy who can just melt your heart with his smile alone. I had so much fun on this shoot. Brooks is the sweetest boy! He is so happy and just a joy to be around. No props needed- just a super sweet boy to make great photography! Thanks LeClair’s for sharing your sweet boy with me! I hope to see you soon!

The Willhelm’s

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this family. The Willhelm’s hold a special place in our hearts. They started their family around the same time we started ours, and we have shared a lot of the same ups and downs. Through it all, they have grown to be a loving, beautiful family.
They moved out of the area, so we don’t get to see them as often as we would like. I was so happy to see them for this session!
Thanks guys!! We hope to see you again soon!
